The 2026 SEC rushing touchdowns race remains tightly bunched early in the season, with a deep group of returning backs from strong 2025 performances creating balanced trader sentiment around the leader. Proven scorers such as Kewan Lacy, Ahmad Hardy, DeSean Bishop, Jadan Baugh, and others posted double-digit rushing touchdowns last year across high-volume roles, while transfers like Hollywood Smothers have already contributed multiple scores in Texas's early games. Injury recoveries, evolving offensive schemes under new coordinators, varying team strengths, and the conference's emphasis on ground attacks limit any single back from separating quickly. This depth and situational parity sustain the competitive outlook for the full campaign.
