Elif Eralp, Die Linke’s lead candidate, holds the strongest position in trader consensus for Berlin’s next governing mayor ahead of the September 20 Abgeordnetenhaus election. Recent polling shows her party competitive or ahead, buoyed by emphasis on affordable housing, rent controls, and social justice themes that resonate amid voter frustration with established parties. Stefan Evers, the CDU’s replacement candidate after Kai Wegner’s withdrawal, trails as the center-right option focused on fiscal management and restoring public trust. Other contenders—including Werner Graf of the Greens, Steffen Krach of the SPD, and Kristin Brinker of the AfD—register lower probabilities, reflecting fragmented support and coalition uncertainties. The market resolves based on the individual officially sworn in following coalition negotiations, with no interim or caretaker counting toward settlement.
