Incumbent Mayor Wayne Johnston's April 2026 decision not to seek re-election for the October 27 Tasmanian local government poll has opened the Meander Valley mayoral contest, producing a crowded field that keeps implied probabilities tightly bunched. Deputy Mayor Stephanie Cameron holds a narrow edge in trader pricing, reflecting her current role and prior electoral performance, while Councillor Ben Dudman actively campaigns on infrastructure and waste-management priorities. With no dominant frontrunner yet established and limited public polling available, small shifts in local endorsements, candidate visibility, or preferential voting patterns ahead of election day could quickly widen the gap among leading contenders.
