If a tie still persists, this market will resolve in favor of the team with fewer total yards allowed. If a tie still persists, this market will resolve to "Other". If the 2026 NCAA FBS season concludes early, is shortened, or is truncated for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available NCAA FBS statistics for completed games. If the 2026 NCAA FBS regular season is cancelled, postponed after January 3, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or it is unclear which team allowed the fewest total yards per game within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NCAA (https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Multiple top programs enter the 2026 season with comparable strengths in returning starters, front-seven depth, and schematic continuity, keeping the race for the nation's top defense tightly bunched. Oklahoma benefits from Brent Venables' track record and a unit that allowed the fewest points and yards per game among listed contenders in 2025, while Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas, and Georgia each return experienced defensive lines and secondaries capable of elite pressure and coverage. Indiana, Miami, Texas Tech, and others add further parity through portal additions and coordinator stability. This balance of talent, recent form, and coaching leaves no single team with a decisive edge in projected scoring or total defense rankings.
