Jakub Mensik enters the Hamburg European Open clay-court matchup against Jan-Lennard Struff as the higher-ranked player at No. 28, bringing strong baseline consistency and recent experience against top competition after reaching the Madrid round of 16 and winning the Auckland title earlier in 2026. Struff, ranked No. 83 at age 36, holds a German wild card and benefits from local crowd support on his preferred surface, yet enters with a disappointing 7-13 record this season and no deep runs beyond early rounds. The pair has no prior head-to-head history, leaving recent form and physical freshness as the primary differentiators on the outdoor clay at Am Rothenbaum. Mensik’s serve and return efficiency give him a clear edge in extended rallies typical of this event, while Struff will need to maximize his big serve to create opportunities.
