Rebeka Masarova enters this Berlin Open qualifying final on grass against 17-year-old Mia Pohankova as the higher-ranked player at WTA No. 140 with a 20-13 record in 2026. Masarova brings recent grass-court momentum after reaching the Birmingham semifinals, where she defeated players including Tatjana Maria before falling to Alex Eala, and she advanced through her Berlin qualifying opener. Pohankova, ranked No. 280 and the 2025 Wimbledon junior champion, holds a strong 20-7 mark this year and won her qualifying opener against Tamara Korpatsch. The pair has no prior head-to-head history. Key variables include Masarova’s greater professional experience and serve consistency on the surface versus Pohankova’s aggressive baseline game and rapid rise from juniors, with both players competing for a main-draw spot ahead of the Wimbledon grass swing.
