Marta Kostyuk enters the National Bank Open second-round matchup against Katherine Sebov as the clear favorite, backed by her world No. 11 ranking and dominant 27-6 record in 2026 that includes titles in Rouen and Madrid plus semifinals at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. The Ukrainian has shown strong all-court consistency and recent hard-court results despite a tougher transition from grass. Sebov, a Canadian ranked around No. 230 with a career-high of 136, secured her first-round win over Aoi Ito but faces a steep challenge in experience and depth against a top-20 opponent on home soil. Factors such as Kostyuk’s superior serving and return game, combined with Sebov’s limited WTA 1000 exposure, shape trader consensus around a decisive outcome while noting potential for competitive sets if the underdog capitalizes on crowd support or early breaks.
