Yordan Alvarez holds a slim edge in the batting average race at .322, narrowly ahead of Luis Arraez near .314-.316 and Otto Lopez at .318, as the 2026 season enters its final two months. Alvarez has sustained elite contact and power production for the Astros while Arraez, now with the Phillies after an earlier trade, continues his trademark plate discipline and line-drive approach across more than 450 at-bats. With dozens of games remaining for each contender and limited separation in current averages, late-season hot streaks, minor injuries, or shifts in playing time could quickly alter the leaderboard. Trader pricing reflects this narrow gap and the inherent volatility of batting average over a full campaign.
