Alex de Minaur enters the Montreal second round as the clear favorite against fellow Australian James Duckworth, reflecting his top-10 ranking, strong hard-court results, and 27-14 record this season. De Minaur received a first-round bye and brings superior speed, consistency, and experience at Masters 1000 events, while Duckworth, ranked 86, advanced past Chris O'Connell but carries a 5-13 win-loss mark and limited success against elite competition. Their head-to-head history and surface matchup further support trader consensus around de Minaur’s edge, though any fatigue from recent scheduling or uncharacteristic lapses could create narrow upset windows on the outdoor hard courts.
