Aleksandar Vukic faces Daniel Altmaier in the first round of the National Bank Open on hard courts in Montreal. Altmaier holds the higher ranking near No. 60 after a career-high of No. 44 earlier in 2026, while Vukic sits around No. 100. Both players enter with losing records on the year, though Vukic arrives with recent momentum after defeating Tomás Barrios Vera in straight sets in the same event. Altmaier has competed primarily on clay recently, including a win in Kitzbühel, before shifting to North American hard courts. Limited prior head-to-head history and the fast hard-court surface favor baseline consistency and serve effectiveness, with any late withdrawal or fitness updates capable of shifting implied probabilities ahead of the scheduled start.
