The tightly bunched probabilities in this 10-player rapid and blitz event reflect deep parity among elite speed-chess specialists ahead of the July 1–5 Zagreb stop. Nodirbek Abdusattorov enters with the highest FIDE rating and proven rapid pedigree as a former world rapid champion, while Vincent Keymer rides momentum from his recent classical breakthrough on the tour. World champion Gukesh Dommaraju and Alireza Firouzja bring top-tier classical strength that translates variably to faster time controls, joined by consistent performers like Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, Anish Giri, and Jorden van Foreest. Wildcard home favorite Ivan Saric and others add further variance in a double round-robin blitz plus rapid format where form, preparation edges, and matchups can shift outcomes quickly. Recent Poland leg results and rating fluctuations underscore how small edges separate contenders in this competitive field.
