This market will resolve to "Yes" if the Japanese government declassifies any files pertaining to extraterrestrial life and/or unexplained aerial phenomena which were not previously publicly available between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, only information from the national Government of Japan will qualify. Information from individual prefectures or municipalities will not be sufficient to resolve this market. Announcements of declassifications that are not implemented within this market's timeframe will not count. The primary resolution source for declassification will be official information from the government of Japan; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Japan maintains a cautious stance toward UAP matters, with its Ministry of Defense and Chief Cabinet Secretary emphasizing case-by-case evaluations that weigh national security risks, including potential exposure of intelligence methods. In May 2026, Tokyo confirmed it was reviewing Pentagon-released UAP files with sightings near Japanese airspace but issued no commitments, legislative proposals, or timelines for releasing its own previously non-public records. Officials have highlighted ongoing coordination with the United States without signaling any shift toward broader domestic declassification. As of mid-2026, no parliamentary mandates, scheduled reviews, or official announcements have emerged to suggest new Japanese government files on unexplained aerial phenomena or extraterrestrial-related topics will become public before December 31. This structural restraint underpins trader consensus favoring no release.
