Darja Vidmanova holds a clear ranking edge at world No. 104 over Xinyu Gao at No. 227 entering this French Open qualifying clash on red clay. The 23-year-old Czech has posted an 18-13 record in 2026, showing solid form with recent wins in Madrid qualifiers and consistent results across WTA events. Gao, the 28-year-old right-hander from China with a career-high of No. 125, sits at 12-9 this season and leans on ITF-level clay experience. On the slow, high-bouncing surface at Roland Garros, where endurance and baseline consistency count heavily, Vidmanova’s higher-level match play and recent schedule strength give her the main edge, though Gao’s power and prior Grand Slam qualifying runs keep the outcome competitive.
