Dominika Salkova enters the Roland Garros qualifying clash against Susan Bandecchi as the clear favorite, buoyed by her superior WTA ranking near 115 and more consistent results on clay this season. The 21-year-old Czech has posted an 11-11 record in 2026, including recent wins in Parma and Rouen that showcased her improved movement and baseline consistency on the slow red dirt. Bandecchi, ranked 215 and aged 27, brings a 16-13 mark and has advanced through her opening qualifying round, yet her lower-tier results and the pair’s lone prior meeting—a 2023 clay victory for the Swiss—highlight Salkova’s edge in experience at this level. With both players navigating the demanding qualifier schedule on outdoor clay, fatigue and serving efficiency under variable Paris conditions remain key variables that could influence the outcome.
