Rebecca Sramkova enters this Roland Garros qualifying opener against Kayla Cross with a ranking advantage at No. 118 and prior Grand Slam experience, though her 2026 singles record sits at 10-13 amid inconsistent results on the WTA circuit. The 29-year-old Slovak has shown mixed form on clay, with limited recent success at this surface. Cross, a 21-year-old Canadian ranked No. 198, arrives with stronger momentum after several ITF victories and a 12-7 mark this season, including solid clay-court showings. The first-time matchup on red clay favors the veteran’s serve and baseline game, yet Cross’s youth and recent wins create realistic upset potential in the best-of-three format.
