Aleksandar Vukic enters the National Bank Open first-round matchup against Daniel Altmaier with a narrow edge in implied probability, driven by his stronger 2026 hard-court results and 2-1 head-to-head lead, including a straight-sets win on the surface in Tokyo last year. Altmaier holds the higher ranking near No. 62 but shows limited recent success on hard courts, while Vukic at No. 105 has compiled a more consistent record on the speedier outdoor surface in Montreal. Both players face the typical challenges of a Masters 1000 opener on hard, where early match fitness and adaptation to conditions often decide close contests, and no major injury or withdrawal reports have altered the draw. Trader consensus reflects the even matchup between the right-handed Australians and German, with surface-specific form and prior direct results outweighing the ranking differential.
