Sri Lanka enters the rescheduled ODI series against Afghanistan with a modest edge rooted in superior squad depth and stronger recent bilateral results against associate and full-member sides. Their balanced attack, featuring reliable pace options and experienced middle-order batters, aligns well with typical neutral-venue conditions expected in the UAE later this year. Afghanistan’s spin-heavy strategy and proven ability to upset higher-ranked teams on slowing pitches keep the matchup competitive, particularly if key all-rounders stay fit. Historical head-to-head records show Sri Lanka prevailing in most completed ODIs, yet Afghanistan’s improving white-ball form and home-like familiarity in the region sustain realistic prospects for a series-level contest.
