Luke Littler enters PDC Players Championship 27 in Leicester as the dominant world champion fresh off defending his World Matchplay title with record averages above 111 and a strong run of major victories in 2026. His first ProTour outing of the year pits him against 16-year-old PDPA Associate Archie Self in a best-of-11 legs opener, where Littler’s elite scoring, finishing, and experience create a clear edge despite limited recent floor time. Self’s youth and potential for high checkout rates introduce upset risk in an early-round format, while Littler’s need to accumulate ranking points for Minehead qualification adds motivational context. Trader consensus at even money reflects the matchup’s inherent variance in darts, where a strong opening performance from the teenager or any rust from the favorite could narrow the gap quickly before Littler’s superior consistency asserts itself.
