Ed Ruscha’s “Cities Across the Globe” heads to Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated sale on October 7, 2026, anchoring trader focus on whether the lot clears $600,000, $700,000, $900,000 or $1.1 million. Ruscha’s auction market has shown resilience, with a 2024 artist record of $68.3 million for a major 1960s painting and consistent 2025–2026 results for works on paper that frequently surpass estimates, including a $1.819 million sale for a 1982 piece and multiple 2026 results between $576,000 and $889,000. Strong sell-through rates, selective demand for Pop-inflected material, and the proximity of the hammer date support the current implied probabilities, though final price will hinge on pre-sale estimates, bidding competition, and any last-minute market shifts.
