Redistricting has fundamentally altered Utah's 1st congressional district by shifting its boundaries to encompass most of Salt Lake County, including Salt Lake City and surrounding urban areas, creating a seat without an incumbent. This change produced a district that favored Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris by 24 points in 2024, establishing a structural advantage reflected in current trader consensus. Democrat Ben McAdams, a former representative, secured the party nomination in the June 2026 primary and will face Republican Riley Owen in the November general election. The resulting implied probability for a Democratic win aligns with the district's new partisan composition and historical voting patterns in the included population centers. A major shift would require exceptional Republican turnout or unforeseen events altering the baseline dynamics before November.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
