Wisconsin's 3rd congressional district remains one of the state's most competitive House races heading into the November 2026 general election. Incumbent Republican Derrick Van Orden, who won reelection by roughly three points in 2024, faces Democrat Rebecca Cooke in a rematch after she secured the Democratic nomination in the August 11 primary. A June 2026 poll showed Cooke leading Van Orden 50% to 46%, reflecting the district's swing character across southwestern Wisconsin's Driftless Area, including Eau Claire and La Crosse. Traders appear to price in Democratic advantages in recent polling, candidate fundraising, and institutional support as key factors favoring Cooke's chances in this battleground seat.
