Haaland leads the head-to-head World Cup goals market at 60.5% implied probability primarily due to his status as Norway’s undisputed focal point in their first tournament appearance since 1998. He netted 16 goals across eight qualifiers, showcasing elite finishing and aerial ability that align with Norway’s direct style against group opponents like Iraq, Senegal, and France. Alvarez, by contrast, operates within Argentina’s crowded attack alongside Messi and Martinez, limiting his chance volume despite prior World Cup experience. Recent reports also note Alvarez’s ongoing recovery from an April ankle sprain, requiring regenerative treatment ahead of the group stage, while Haaland enters with no fitness concerns and strong club momentum. These factors reflect trader consensus on Haaland’s higher individual scoring rate in a more dependent setup.
