Ilya Ivashka enters the Bengaluru 3 quarterfinal as the clear favorite against Alex Hernandez on outdoor hard courts, backed by his higher ranking near 631 and status as a former top-40 player with proven big-match experience. The 32-year-old Belarusian delivered a dominant 6-1, 6-1 round-of-16 win, showcasing strong serving and return efficiency that aligns with recent serve-and-return trends favoring him over six months. Hernandez, ranked around 475 and six years younger, advanced in three sets against Naoya Honda but has shown vulnerability on second-serve points won. With no prior head-to-head meetings, the matchup hinges on Ivashka’s edge in clutch break-point saving and overall consistency, though the younger contender’s disruptive return game offers realistic upset potential in a best-of-three format.
