Norway's commanding position in World Championships encounters with Italy stems primarily from superior attacking depth and recent dominance, highlighted by Erling Haaland's clinical finishing and the team's fluid transitions. In their latest World Cup qualifier, Norway secured a 4-1 victory at San Siro after trailing at halftime, with Haaland scoring twice to seal qualification for the first time since 1998. Italy's defensive lapses and transitional struggles under new coach Gennaro Gattuso have compounded these issues, echoing prior heavy defeats. Head-to-head trends, Norway's higher-ranked squad cohesion, and Italy's playoff reliance further align with the current trader consensus favoring Norway while leaving room for potential Italian resilience in knockout formats.
