Recent July employment data, with nonfarm payrolls contracting by 23,000 and the unemployment rate easing to 4.1% from 4.2% amid a sharp drop in labor force participation, has anchored Polymarket odds around 4.1–4.2% for August. This reflects a cooling labor market where subdued hiring and workforce exits offset broader stability, consistent with Federal Reserve assessments of low but steady unemployment. Traders weigh potential further softening against seasonal factors ahead of the September 4 BLS release, with implied probabilities highlighting close contestation between holding near recent levels or modest rebound.
