Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance through late August points to a hot, humid day in Chicago on September 2 under mostly sunny skies and southwest flow, supporting afternoon highs in the low-to-mid 90s. Strong solar heating combined with dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s will boost heat indices near 100, while winds of 10–15 mph with gusts to 25 mph may slightly moderate peak readings. Ensemble forecasts show tight clustering around 91–94 °F, with minor spread tied to exact cloud cover timing or boundary-layer mixing. This setup exceeds September climatological normals near 76–80 °F and aligns with trader emphasis on the 92–95 °F bins. Updated model runs and the NWS afternoon forecast discussion on September 1 will provide the final data ahead of resolution.
