Incumbent Democrat Cisco Aguilar holds a strong position in the Nevada secretary of state race, facing Republican Jim Marchant in their November 3, 2026, rematch. Aguilar advanced unopposed through the June Democratic primary and maintains a substantial fundraising edge, with roughly $1 million on hand compared to Marchant’s minimal reserves. Marchant secured the Republican nomination after a close June primary against Shirley Folkins-Roberts and others, though his platform emphasizing paper ballots, elimination of electronic machines, and voter ID measures has drawn attention amid Nevada’s recent election administration changes. Forecasters rate the contest as likely Democratic, consistent with Aguilar’s narrow 2022 victory and the structural advantages of incumbency in this statewide office overseeing elections and business filings.
