Recent polling consistently places the CDU ahead of the SPD by 4–8 points in vote intention for the September 20, 2026 Berlin state election, with the CDU typically at 19–20% and the SPD at 12–15%. This gap has held across surveys from INSA, Infratest dimap, and Civey through mid-August, reflecting the SPD’s weaker standing as junior partner in the current CDU-led coalition. The CDU maintained its position after replacing its prior lead candidate amid scrutiny over governance issues, while the SPD has shown limited recovery. With the election now under five weeks away and no major shifts narrowing the margin, traders view the CDU securing a higher vote share as the dominant outcome.
