Recent polling for Berlin’s September 20 state election shows Linke, CDU, AfD, and Grüne clustered between roughly 16% and 22%, with SPD further back, creating substantial uncertainty over final rankings. This tight distribution explains why traders assign the highest implied probabilities for second place to CDU and AfD, followed by Linke, while assigning minimal odds to smaller parties. Candidate adjustments, including the CDU’s selection of a new lead contender after earlier changes, and ongoing debate over coalition viability have kept momentum fluid without clear separation. Late-campaign developments such as turnout differentials, issue salience around housing and security, or last-minute shifts among undecided voters could still reorder the middle of the field before election night.
