Die Linke secured its strongest-ever result in the September 20 Berlin Abgeordnetenhaus election, capturing 25.7 percent of the vote and translating into approximately 47 seats under the state’s proportional representation system. This outcome followed sustained polling gains driven by voter focus on housing affordability, where lead candidate Elif Eralp emphasized rent controls and nationalization measures that resonated in key districts. The previous CDU-SPD coalition lost substantial support amid a fragmented field that also saw the AfD rise while the Greens, SPD, and smaller parties fell short of expectations. With vote counts largely complete and turnout around 74 percent, traders price the 40+ seat band at 97.2 percent as the most probable resolution. Late adjustments to the final certified tally or successful legal challenges could theoretically shift the total, though historical precedent shows such changes rarely exceed a few seats.
