Julia Letlow secured the top spot in Louisiana’s May 16 Republican Senate primary through strong voter support in a multi-candidate field that included incumbent Bill Cassidy and state Treasurer John Fleming. Trump’s endorsement and alignment with the administration’s agenda propelled her ahead of rivals, producing a projected first-place finish near 45 percent and advancement to the June 27 runoff. Cassidy’s third-place showing reflected long-standing tensions over his impeachment vote and policy differences. With official results now confirming Letlow as the first-round leader, the market consensus reflects this outcome. Late shifts remain possible only if certification reveals unexpected vote adjustments or procedural challenges alter the certified tally.
