The Italian Open final features world No. 4 Coco Gauff against No. 10 Elina Svitolina on clay, where Svitolina leads their head-to-head 3-2 after straight-set and three-set wins over Gauff in the Australian Open and Dubai this season. Svitolina enters with strong momentum from a 27-7 record, two WTA 1000 finals reached in 2026, and an undefeated 7-0 mark in clay-court title matches. Gauff counters with superior ranking, deeper major-title experience, and historically elite clay results, though both players have navigated demanding paths to the final. Their first clay meeting adds uncertainty around baseline rallies and movement on the slower Roman surface, while Svitolina’s proven final record and recent form against top opponents shape much of the current trader focus.
