The 30-year-old Chinese player, currently ranked around No. 551 on the WTA, brings a deeper professional resume and recent ITF results at this level, while Nishiwaki, still primarily competing on the junior circuit with an ITF junior ranking near 227, has posted a limited 1-3 professional record in 2026. No prior head-to-head exists between the pair. Surface familiarity on outdoor hard courts and Zhang’s physical maturity position her as the clear market favorite, though Nishiwaki’s potential for aggressive baseline play could create opportunities if she capitalizes on any early-match nerves from the higher-ranked opponent.
