In the tight NL Central race, St. Louis Cardinals (25-18, third place) host Pittsburgh Pirates (24-20, fourth, one game back) for a key divisional series at Busch Stadium starting May 19, following St. Louis' four-game sweep in Pittsburgh two weeks ago where they erupted for 37 runs, including 10-5 over Paul Skenes on April 30. Probable starters for May 20 feature Pirates' Carmen Mlodzinski (2-3, 4.50 ERA) against Cardinals' Matthew McGreevy (3-2, 2.18 ERA), tilting pitching edge homeward. Pittsburgh's depth tested by recent 10-day IL stints for OF Jake Mangum (hamstring, May 8) and C Joey Bart (foot infection, May 12), while St. Louis misses INF Ramón Urías (elbow). Head-to-head trends and home/away splits shape trader consensus on this rivalry matchup with playoff implications.
