The St. Louis Cardinals bring strong recent form into this NL Central matchup, sitting near the top of the division with a record around 25-18 and a string of comeback wins. Their young core has delivered consistent results against quality opponents, and outfielder Lars Nootbaar is expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment soon after heel surgery, potentially adding lineup depth. The Cincinnati Reds hover just behind at roughly 23-21, with pitching staff challenges evident in elevated ERAs during recent starts. The three-game series at Great American Ball Park begins May 22 and features home-field factors plus probable starters including Paddack for Cincinnati and Leahy or Pallante for St. Louis.
