Washington’s 4th Congressional District features an open-seat top-two primary on August 4, 2026, after incumbent Republican Dan Newhouse opted not to seek re-election. Eleven candidates have filed, dominated by Republicans including state Senator Matt Boehnke, Yakima County Commissioner Amanda McKinney—who leads early fundraising—and others such as Jerrod Sessler. Democrat John Duresky is the main non-Republican contender in the solidly Republican district. Washington’s jungle primary advances the two highest vote-getters regardless of party, so Republican vote fragmentation and candidate positioning on endorsements and resources will determine which contenders advance to the November general election. No primary-specific polling has surfaced recently.
