This market will resolve to the player who wins the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. In the event of a tie, this market will resolve according to the official winner as determined by WNBA rules. If multiple winners are announced then this market will resolve to the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically. If the 2026 WNBA season is cancelled, postponed after October 7, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or there is otherwise no winner declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the Women’s National Basketball Association; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The tight clustering among top contenders for 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year reflects an early-season landscape without a dominant statistical outlier after roughly one month of play. Gabby Williams has bolstered Golden State’s perimeter pressure and team defensive rating through her steal rate and versatility, while Alanna Smith anchors Dallas’s interior after her prior co-DPOY honors. Aliyah Boston, Angel Reese (now with Atlanta and posting elite rebounding), and Ezi Magbegor sustain strong block and rebound impacts across competitive rosters, and veterans like A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, and Brittney Griner draw on established track records and shot-altering presence. Skylar Diggins-Smith adds disruptive guard defense amid broader award chatter. This balance stems from comparable per-game contributions in steals, blocks, and defensive ratings, plus shifting team contexts that keep implied probabilities bunched in the low-to-mid 40s.
