Julian Álvarez enters the 2026 World Cup as Argentina’s key forward option in Lionel Scaloni’s attack, building on his four-goal 2022 haul with strong Atlético Madrid output of roughly 18–20 goals plus assists this season. A late ankle sprain from the Champions League semifinals cleared fully by early June, allowing full training ahead of the June 16 Group D opener versus Algeria. Traders weigh his clinical finishing and link-up play against competition for minutes from Lautaro Martínez, plus favorable early fixtures against Algeria, Austria, and Jordan that could boost his goal tallies before deeper knockout stages test squad rotation and Messi’s influence.
