Mary Stoiana enters this Roland Garros qualifying matchup holding a clear edge in singles ranking and recent clay-court results. The 23-year-old American, currently around No. 146, posted an 11-5 record on the surface in 2026 and defeated Selena Janicijevic in straight sets during the first qualifying round. Matilde Jorge, ranked near No. 251, secured her own first-round win over Elvina Kalieva but enters with far less clay experience and a lower overall standing. Both players are in their early twenties and have shown competitive form on European clay this spring, though Stoiana’s superior ranking and documented clay success position her as the stronger favorite on the slow, high-bouncing courts at Roland Garros.
