Incumbent Republican Austin Scott faces Democrat Kelly Esti in Georgia's 8th congressional district general election on November 3, 2026. The district's strong Republican lean, evidenced by Scott's 68.9% vote share in 2024, combined with his unopposed or dominant primary performance and Esti's emergence from a contested Democratic primary, underpins trader consensus favoring an outright majority winner. Georgia's runoff rule requires over 50% of the vote, but the area's partisan makeup and limited opposition make a runoff improbable absent major disruptions. Potential variables include unusually low Republican turnout, a national political shift favoring Democrats, or late-breaking developments involving either candidate that could compress margins, though historical patterns and current candidate positioning suggest these remain low-probability risks.
