In Georgia’s 13th Congressional District special election triggered by the April 2026 death of longtime Democratic incumbent David Scott, the July 28 first-round contest featured an all-party ballot with multiple Democratic contenders, including Marcye Scott and Everton Blair, alongside lower-polling Republicans. The district’s strong Democratic lean historically favors one party nominee consolidating support, supporting trader expectations of a first-round majority. However, vote fragmentation among Democrats and the low Republican share reduced the likelihood of any candidate clearing 50 percent outright. Recent primary and polling patterns in similar safe Democratic seats, combined with the compressed special-election timeline, underpin the 62.8 percent implied probability for an outright winner while leaving room for runoff scenarios if support remains split.
