Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a weak low-pressure system in the northern Gulf of Mexico is increasing atmospheric moisture over Houston ahead of September 1, raising afternoon thunderstorm chances to 40-50% and introducing cloud cover that can limit peak solar heating. This follows several days of upper-90s readings under drier high pressure, shifting expected highs downward into the low-to-mid 90s. Market-implied probabilities cluster around 86-89°F, reflecting trader assessment of convective timing and coverage that could suppress maxima below the 91.6°F historical average for the date, while higher bins price in scenarios with delayed or limited storm development. Updated NHC and NOAA briefings through the weekend will refine steering patterns and moisture influx ahead of market resolution.
