Incumbent Dorothy McCabe holds the strongest position among traders due to her first-term record on housing affordability, transit, and regional issues since her narrow 2022 victory over Shannon Weber by 331 votes. The race is viewed as a direct rematch, with both candidates retaining distinct geographic strongholds in Waterloo. Nominations closed August 21, 2026, adding three late entrants—Jeyas Balaskanthan, Jamie Hari, and Jerry Jiang—whose limited visibility and resources keep their implied probabilities low. Recent local coverage highlights the contest’s competitiveness without evidence of major shifts in support, aligning trader pricing with McCabe’s incumbency advantage and Weber’s established base ahead of the October 26 vote.
