Ben Shelton holds a significant edge in this ATP Hamburg first-round matchup on red clay, driven by his current world No. 6 ranking and stronger 2026 form of 17-7 compared to Marcos Giron’s 8-8 record. Shelton’s powerful serve and improved clay-court results this season contrast with Giron’s struggles on the surface, where the veteran has posted limited success in recent appearances. The pair split their prior two meetings, but Shelton’s most recent win came on hard courts in 2023. As a lucky loser in the draw, Giron faces an uphill battle against the higher-ranked American, whose recent momentum and physical advantages on slower surfaces position him as the consensus favorite among traders.
