Alexis Nguyen enters the ITF W15 Irvine round of 16 as the clear favorite on outdoor hard courts, reflecting her superior professional experience, recent ITF results on the surface, and WTA singles ranking near 765. The 18-year-old American posted solid wins in prior W15 events this spring and summer before a recent loss in Los Angeles. Sophia Webster, a 20-year-old Vanderbilt sophomore with limited pro singles activity and a focus on doubles, lacks comparable recent hard-court match play at this level. The matchup pits Nguyen’s established ranking and form against Webster’s collegiate background, with the current pricing driven by these experience and results gaps. Outdoor hard conditions favor consistent baseline play from both.
