Argentina’s official USD/ARS rate, near 1,490 in mid-August 2026, trades within an inflation-linked crawling band that widens monthly to facilitate central bank reserve purchases ahead of sizable 2026 debt service. Disinflation to roughly 3% monthly, combined with agricultural and energy export strength, has eased depreciation pressure and supported trader pricing that clusters heavily around 1,600–1,700 by year-end. Key swing factors include whether the band continues to track lagged CPI, the pace of reserve accumulation versus private dollar demand, and any further easing of remaining capital controls. With the two leading brackets separated by just 3.5 points, markets reflect tight uncertainty over the final months’ inflation path and external financing conditions.
