Charizard ex variants, particularly the Mega Charizard Y ex hyper rare from the Ascended Heroes expansion, continue to draw strong collector demand as one of the era’s premier chase cards. Recent weekly price data shows gains of nearly 9% for key Charizard ex singles still seeing Standard play, fueled by the Pokémon’s perennial pop-culture appeal and limited supply of high-grade copies. Traders appear to weigh the Aug. 28 release of the Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes tin—featuring new Mega ex artwork and booster packs—as a near-term catalyst likely to sustain or accelerate upward movement into month-end. While broader market volatility and competition from other chase cards introduce some downside risk, the combination of confirmed recent gains and the imminent product drop supports the market’s 67% implied probability for an “Up” close on August 31.
