New Zealand Women enter as defending champions and clear favorites against West Indies, backed by a dominant recent head-to-head record and superior bowling resources led by Amelia Kerr. West Indies open their campaign without Stafanie Taylor and Chinelle Henry, adding pressure on captain Hayley Matthews and all-round contributions from Deandra Dottin. The Rose Bowl surface and neutral conditions favor disciplined pace and spin attacks, where New Zealand’s depth provides an edge. West Indies rely on aggressive top-order power-hitting to counter, though inconsistent warm-up form and fielding lapses have raised questions about execution under tournament pressure. Group-stage implications heighten the stakes for both sides’ net run rate calculations.
