Sara Daavettila enters this ITF W35 Decatur hard-court match as the clear ranking favorite, holding a WTA singles position near 570 compared to Violeta Martinez’s ITF ranking of 871. The 28-year-old American brings greater professional experience, including multiple prior ITF titles, while the younger Martinez competes as a University of Illinois junior transitioning to the pro circuit. Daavettila’s 2026 record stands at 6-8 with limited recent activity, whereas Martinez arrives after a straight-sets victory over Abigail Schumann in an earlier round of the event. Both players compete on a surface that aligns with their backgrounds, and no reported injuries or withdrawals alter the field. The outcome hinges on Daavettila’s consistency against Martinez’s developing game in what remains a closely watched early-round contest.
