The Tampa Bay Rays enter this interleague matchup with the Miami Marlins as the stronger side, boasting a 29-15 record and the AL East lead while posting a dominant 14-4 home mark at Tropicana Field. Recent momentum favors Tampa Bay, which has won 11 of its last 13 games and continues to lean on contact-oriented offense, speed, and bullpen depth. The Marlins sit at 21-25 overall with a subpar 6-12 road record and rank near the middle of the pack in offensive production. Starting pitching will shape outcomes, particularly with Drew Rasmussen (3-1, 3.16 ERA) facing Eury Pérez (2-5, 4.94 ERA) in the Sunday contest. Historical trends show the Rays holding the edge in the series, though Miami’s recent wins behind Sandy Alcantara provide a narrow path to competitiveness.
